Final student meeting

Students need to come to CR4 at 3pm on Wednesday 12th Feb.

Final details about the trip will be given out at this meeting.

The hotel has sent rooming through now which will be allocated at this meeting.

If you have a genuine reason for not being able to attend then you must let Mr W know before the meeting. There is a letter you must collect as well.

Sir, do i need goggles?

Last Wednesday at Tamworth Snowdome, a couple of students were asking about the kit they need to take to Italy.

As part of the trip, you are provided with a helmet, boots, skis or snowboard and ski poles. Everything else is provided by the student.

A few students want to bring their own helmet and that is fine.  On a few rare occasions, a student has even brought along their own ski boots.

Please see this previous blog entry for a list  What do i need to take?

What do i need to take?

What do I need to pack?

Your Main Bag.

ONE MEDIUM BAG ONLY! – Monster suit cases will not fit in the coach and would need compressing into black bags.  THEY WON’T FIT IN!  We will demonstrate what a medium bag looks like on the Ski Presentation Evening.

In the bag you will need:

  • All the obvious stuff – clothes, wash bag, etc!
  • Advice on ‘going out clothes’.  Most of the evening activities will take place away from the hotel and involve us walking about outside to get to venues.  The temperature can drop to
-20C in the evening.  Please consider this – you will not be heading out for night on the town in West Bridgford at 10C – and will be expected to dress appropriately.
  • At least one towel
  • Ski gear – we recommend you put these items in your hold bag:
    • Salopettes
    • Thermal Underwear set or long sleeve t-shirts & Track suit trousers.
    • Ski Socks (minimum 3 pairs, ideally 5/6)
    • Ski Gloves
    • Ski Hat* –  a prize will be given for the most extravagant
    • Necker – (or scarf to cover your mouth if it gets windy)
    • Goggles
    • Sun Glasses (You NEED both – goggles and glasses – without goggles it is impossible to ski in even the smallest dusting of a snowfall and when the sun is hot even the best goggles fog up).
    • Factor 50+ Sun Block
    • Lip Sun Block – so your lips don’t turn in to large, red, agonising bananas.
    • Fleece Jumper (s) – plenty of layers

Your SMALL Carry-On Bag

  • Entertainment! It’s a 24 hour journey so feel free to bring i-phones / i-pads (no external speakers on the coach please), Nintendo Switch / video players, games but YOU are responsible for this equipment and any subsequent communications with the insurance firm and claims for damages, loss etc.  You could even bring a book or school work!
The coach will have a DVD player (of variable quality) so if you have a favourite film that EVERYBODY will enjoy please feel free to bring it for all our onboard entertainment.  Remember the invisible ‘staff/student line’ – teachers do not like swear words!
  • Do not forget your chargers and European adaptors
  • Pillow/ Travel Pillow – Self-explanatory
  • A thin blanket (or a Onesie)
  • Food/Drink – we will stop regularly at service stations but recommend you bring a reasonable quantity of sandwiches/ crisps etc.
  • Medications – Do not let yourself be separated from any essential medication.
  • Ski Coat and Hat – Save space in the hold and be prepared for bad weather on the trip.
